When I was a kid I had always wanted to be able to wink both of my eyes. For some reason this was a major thought in my tiny little brain and I can remember practicing in my room. It wasnâ??t until the fifth grade though that I could actually pull it off, and I had a bit of help. The summer before the fifth grade, my mother, little brother, and I were in a terrible car accident. My brother suffered the worst of it. He ended up with over sixty stitches in his face. My mom had a severe case of whiplash from trying to turn and hang on to me. I ended up with a broken cheek bone and a torn spleen. I spent several days in the hospital as they needed to consistently check my blood levels. The swelling on my cheek brought my cheek itself up to my eye. I learned that I could put a little effort into it and raise my cheek all the way up, so I could wink! I might have left the hospital pretty beat up, but in my little mind I was sure happy that I could finally wink both of my eyes!
